Game 1: 2/26, Atlanta Braves 5, New York Mets 5, 10 inn (Port St. Lucie, FL)
--A trio of 2010 G-Braves scored one run apiece for Atlanta in the knotted-up game: Freddie Freeman (1B), Wilkin Ramirez (RF) and Matt Young (LF) all crossed the plate for the Bravos.
--That's not all those three share in common. They were also all perfect at the dish on the day (Freeman: 3-for-3, 3 2B/Ramirez: 2-for-2/Young: 1-for-1, RBI).
--Other notable G-Braves from last season in today's action: Diory Hernandez (SS) was 1-for-4 as was Jordan Schafer (DH, leadoff hitter), Brandon Hicks (3B) was 0-for-2 and J.C. Boscan (C) went 0-for-1.
--Players fans could see in Gwinnett Braves uniforms for the first time this season? The New Wilkin, Castillo (PH) from the Reds organization in 2010 that is, was 0-for-1. Jose Constanza (CF), who was an International League All-Star last season for the Columbus Clippers, was 1-for-2 with a run scored off the bench. Ed Lucas (2B) - who played for Triple-A Omaha (Royals) in 2010 was 2-for-2 with a team high 2 RBI for the Braves, while Shawn Bowman (3B) of the Toronto organization (Double-A New Hampshire) last season was 0-for-2.
--G-Braves pitchers were up and down in today's action, as both Michael Broadway and Craig Kimbrel gave up 2 ER and a HR apiece. Short stint 2010 G-Brave Jonny Venters went a scoreless inning, as did possible 2011 closer Stephen Marek. A pair of possible 2011 G-Braves also saw action as Juan Abreu (in Double-A Mississippi in 2010) went 1.0 IP while allowing 1 R/ER and both walking and striking out a pair. Offseason waiver claim (Mariners) Anthony Varvaro threw a scoreless frame.
