Rivals set to play on April 3rd at 7:05pm
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, along with the JEDC Sports and Entertainment Board, are currently selling tickets for the much anticipated matchup between the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles at the Baseball Grounds on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 7:05pm.
The game will pit two of the top NCAA baseball programs in the state and the nation in one of the most highly regarded minor league facilities in the country.
The Gators, under head coach Pat McMahon, won the SEC title in 2005 and reached the championship series of the NCAA College World Series the same season. They are expected to be a force in the SEC, returning 21 letter winners and three position starters to the team in 2007.
A perennial ACC powerhouse, Florida State, guided by head coach Mike Martin, open the season ranked #13 by Collegiate Baseball in the nation and are in search of their 29th consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament.
"This is a very exciting event for the City of Jacksonville as well as for Gators and Seminole fans in our area," said Mike Sullivan, Executive Director of the JEDC Sports and Entertainment Board. "The support for both schools in the Jacksonville area is great and we hope to see this turn into a yearly event at the Baseball Grounds."
"We can't think of a better way to kick off an exciting season of baseball at the Baseball Grounds that with a game of this magnitude," added Suns General Manager Kirk Goodman. "Both schools have top-notch baseball programs and the rivalry itself means this is going to be a fun and exciting game."
Tickets for the game are on sale at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville box office. Dugout Box Seats and Reserved are sold out with the exception of a few single seats, but General Admission Seats are still available for $8.50. Tickets can be purchased online at www.etix.com or by calling the Suns at 904-358-2846. The Baseball Grounds box office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 5:00pm.
