Akron introduces two new hot dogs

AKRON, Ohio -- The Akron Aeros today announced plans to release two new Black Angus All Beef Hot Dogs at Canal Park in 2011 - the ½ lb., 14-inch "WonderDog" and the 1 lb., 16-inch "Eighth Wonder of the World", which is being specially created for Canal Park by Five Star Meats.

Fans will have the opportunity to "accessorize" either hot dog with 40 different never-before-seen toppings at Canal Park including Peanut Butter and Jelly, Macaroni and Cheese, Wasabi, Chocolate Chips and Pineapple. Five of the 40 toppings will include secret ingredients and change monthly throughout the 2011 season.

If fans want more traditional toppings for the 1 ½ lbs. of new hot dogs, they can choose from a more conventional list of chili, sauerkraut and onions and peppers. Specially created buns are being baked in preparation to house the 14-inch "WonderDog" and the 16-inch "Eighth Wonder of the World", Canal Park's colossal carnivorous creations.

"Our goal is to provide a unique experience at Canal Park in 2011. We feel that our new food items will give fans that unparalleled experience. Our two new hot dogs will offer creative toppings that fans will not find anywhere else," Aeros Director of Food and Beverage JASON KERTON said.

The ½ lb. "WonderDog" and the 1 lb. "Eighth Wonder of the World" join the "Nice 2 Meat You" Burger and "3 Dog Night" as the newest food creations fans can enjoy at Canal Park this summer. The "Nice 2 Meat You" Burger is a colossal creation - 1 ¼ lb. hamburger, stuffed with a ½ lb. hot dog and a ¼ lb. of bacon, cheese and onions. "3 Dog Night" is a hot dog stuffed inside a bratwurst stuffed inside a kielbasa, topped with sauerkraut and stadium mustard, all on a hoagie roll.
