Celebrity appearances, new giveaways and fresh promotions highlight 2016 schedule

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 17, 2016) - The Fort Myers Miracle are excited to announce the release of the 2016 season schedule featuring a star-studded promotional calendar of celebrity appearances and special giveaways at Hammond Stadium this summer. Beginning on April 7 and ending on September 4, the 25th season of Miracle baseball will feature 140 games in 151 days including 70 home games and the 2016 Florida State League All-Star Game at the CenturyLink Sports Complex.
"We are really stepping up our promotion game for the fans during our 2016 All-Star season with our most exciting schedule in years," said Miracle owner Jason Hochberg. "We've kept many of our old favorites, but have added some exciting new weekly promotions like Mug Club Wednesdays. The Miracle have something for everyone ranging from celebrity appearances from professional wrestlers, Greg Brady and Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" to new giveaways like the Miguel Sano-globe. We've got live music along with the best fireworks displays in Southwest Florida and, of course, some great baseball where fans can see the stars of tomorrow today!"

The Miracle open the season on Thursday, April 7 at Hammond Stadium against the Bradenton Marauders. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a pair of sunglasses courtesy of the Snead Eye Group. On Friday, April 8, the Miracle host the Marauders again for Opening Night ceremonies at 7:05 p.m. The first of six fireworks shows throughout the summer, Opening Night is presented by Wendy's and MetroPCS.

Wendy's and MetroPCS have teamed up with the Miracle and acquired tickets to Opening Night and will distribute them at no cost to their customers. Fans can pick up a general admission ticket at local Wendy's restaurants and MetroPCS locations in Lee and Collier Counties beginning on Thursday, March 31. For $2, fans can upgrade a complimentary ticket to a box seat by visiting the Hammond Stadium ticket office beginning on Monday, April 4 at 9 a.m. The first 5,000 fans to enter the gates on Friday will receive a 2016 Miracle magnetic schedule courtesy of the Florida Forest Service and Fresh from Florida.

Five more fireworks shows are on the schedule during the summer. Celebrate Memorial Weekend Fireworks on Saturday, May 21 presented by Dairy Queen and the Galeana Automotive Group. On June 4, the Miracle have a mid-summer fireworks show to light up the sky after a game with the Daytona Tortugas. June 4 is sponsored by Dairy Queen.

Two weeks later on June 18, the Miracle will welcome the best of the Florida State League to Hammond Stadium for the 2016 FSL All-Star Game. A Home Run Derby will take place before the game and the Miracle will set off an All-Star caliber pyrotechnic display after the final out. The All-Star Game and fireworks shows are presented by CenturyLink, Coors Light and Zambelli Fireworks.

In July, the Miracle will once again provide a patriotic fireworks show on Sunday, July 3 at 6:05 p.m. to celebrate Independence Weekend presented by Budweiser, 96 K-ROCK and FOX 4. The final fireworks show of the summer lands on Saturday, August 13 for Beer, Baseball and Boom. Killebrew Root Beer and iHeartMedia present the wildly popular Craft Beer Festival with delicious beer-tasting before and during a 6:05 p.m. game with the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

While fireworks may light up the sky this summer at The Bill, the stars will still shine brightly with four special celebrity appearances scheduled during the year. On Saturday, April 23, the Miracle welcome former wrestling stars Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. Then, on Friday, May 6, the Miracle will salute 1976 with a Bad News Bears throwback night. Actor Gary Lee Cavagno, who portrayed Mike Engelberg in the 1976 hit move The Bad News Bears, will be at the ballpark signing autographs and posing for pictures. The Miracle will also be wearing Bad News Bears-themed jerseys that will be available for auction during the game. Cavagno's appearances is sponsored by Panini America.

A second celebrity appearance highlights the May schedule when Greg Brady, actor Barry Williams, arrives on Friday, May 20. Williams, who portrayed Greg Brady for five seasons on The Brady Bunch, will meet with fans and sign autographs courtesy of Good Deals Appliances.

NEXT!.. in June, fans will need to tread lightly and stay in line because the infamous "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld will be at Hammond Stadium. Larry Thomas played Yev Kassem, the iconic "Soup Nazi", in the 116th episode of Seinfeld.

When the stars aren't shining at the CenturyLink Sports Complex, fans can bring home a souvenir with seven giveaway nights on the schedule. After the sunglasses giveaway on April 7 and the magnet schedule on April 8, the next item handout will be take place on Saturday, July 2 with a Miguel Sano-Globe presented by The Fan 97.3 FM. In 2015, Miguel Sano slugged 18 home runs in a half of a season in his rookie year with the Minnesota Twins. Sano was a fan favorite and FSL All-Star with the Miracle in 2013. The first 500 fans through the games on July 2 will receive a globe with a likeness of Miguel that they can shake up to let is Sano, let it Sano, let it Sano!

Later in July, the Miracle have back-to-back giveaway nights planned. On Friday, July 29, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Miracle cap courtesy of Earth Elements Landscape Supply and Y100. On Saturday, July 30, the first 500 kids ages 12 and under will get a Miracle backpack filled with supplies and great deals from local businesses. The backpack giveaway is sponsored by KOHL'S and B103.9 FM.

Two more giveaway nights come in August. On Friday, August 19, the Miracle will pass out a custom-designed stein to the first 500 fans through the gates. The stein is courtesy of Earth Elements Landscape Supply and Cat Country 107.1 FM. Six days later, fans will have an important decision to make… who to vote for in the upcoming Bobblection! An election year tradition, the Miracle will once again make bobbleheads of two presidential candidates and the first 500 fans to cast their vote for either candidate will receive a wobbly likeness of their choice.

Going back to April, the Miracle have 12 home dates, but will also host an NCAA collegiate match-up on Tuesday, April 5 between the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles and Miami Hurricanes. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. Also in April, the Miracle host the first of six Dog Daze on Friday, April 22. Fans can bring their puppies to the park to have a barking good time. The other five Dog Daze dates are May 26, June 22, July 8, August 12 and September 2.

Wrapping up the promotions in April, the Miracle have Health and Wellness Day scheduled for April 23 and Sway's first birthday party set for April 24.

In May, the Miracle host 13 games beginning with Cinco de Miracle on a Thirsty Thursday, May 5. Lehigh Rotary "Take a Kid to the Game" Night is set for May 6 and there will be pregame music performed live on the veranda by Shelly Watson. On May 7, legends of 96 K-ROCK Stan and Haney will be at The Bill raising money for the D.R.A.F.T. fund. A donation to the D.R.A.F.T. fund will get you a one of a kind pack of Stan and Haney baseball cards.

The first annual Community Celebration of Israel Independence Day is scheduled for Thursday, May 12 and Irish Heritage Night returns on Thursday, May 26. The first morning game of the home schedule is set for Monday, May 23 agains the Tampa Yankees in the annual Education Day game.

June features 10 home games in addition to All-Star festivities beginning with Island's Night on June 1, celebrating the businesses and residents of Sanibel and Captiva. The first baseball camp of the summer for kids ages 6-8 begins on Monday, June 20 and ends on Wednesday, June 22.

July is going to busy at Hammond Stadium with 18 home games. Father-Daughter Date Night takes place on Thursday, July 7 and the second annual Brew Dash is slotted in for Saturday, July 9. The Brew Dash is a race around the warning track involving the consumption of adult beverages. July 9 is also Video Game Night where Hammond Stadium will get the 8-bit treatment. On July 11, the CenturyLink Sports Complex is converted to a wet and wild waterpark for Big Splash with the game between the Miracle and Dunedin Blue Jays slated for an 11:35 a.m. start and the gates opening at 9 a.m. The second baseball camp of the summer for ages 9-12 begins Monday, July 18 and ends Wednesday, July 20.

August begins a 13-game schedule with the Night of 1,000 prizes presented by Panini America on Thursday, August 11. Middle Child Awareness Night celebrates the forgotten kids of America on August 12 and the first-ever Asia Festival takes place at the stadium on August 20.

All four games the Miracle play in September will be at home. On Thursday, August 1, the Miracle team up with B103.9 FM to give away four tickets to the Adele concert in Miami, Fla. in October. Fan appreciation night is billed for Saturday, September 3 and the final game of the season is at 10:35 a.m. and the Miracle will be serving up a delicious brunch.

The Miracle return daily special favorites like Dairy Queen Sundays, 2-for-1 Tuesdays presented by the Fort Myers News-Press, Bob Evans and Coors Light, Thirsty Thursdays courtesy of West Coast Tattoo, Budweiser and Beasley Media Group and Fill'er Up Fridays sponsored by Budweiser. New this year are Mug Club Wednesdays. For $12, fans get a general admission ticket, a mug and a voucher for one free drink. Inside the gates, the mug gets fans $2 domestic draft beers and fountain sodas as well as $3 craft beers and well drinks. Fans can bring their mug back to the ballpark each Wednesday to enjoy the same great discount prices. The deal continues after the game at Stevie Tomato's Sports Page. Bring your mug to Stevie Tomato's and receive 50 percent off your food order and your first drink is free after Miracle home Wednesday games.

This summer, $2 Saturdays feature $2 pricing on domestic draft beer for two hours from when the gate opens. From 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., fans can partake in the $2 domestic draft price.

For the fifth year, Sway's Junior Miracle Kid's Club is 100 percent FREE to join for children 12 and under. The club membership includes free admission to all Friday and Sunday home games. Kids are invited to run the bases following Friday and Sunday games and partake in a pre-game catch in the outfield on Sundays.

Standard start times for games at Hammond Stadium in 2016 are 7:05 p.m. for Monday through Friday games. Saturday games will begin at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday games start at 4:05 p.m. Please visit www.miraclebaseball.com to see the 2016 schedule as some dates have special start times.

Ticket prices in advance for 2016 are $9.50 ($10.50 for fireworks nights) for box seat/drink rail seating and $7.50 ($8.50 for fireworks nights) for general admission/lawn seating. All ticket prices increase by $1.50 on the day of the game. Seniors and students can purchase a $6 general admission ticket with valid identification.
