Daytona Cubs and AM 1230 WSBB Announce Radio Partnership

March 7, 2011
The Daytona Cubs and AM 1230 WSBB Radio have partnered up for the 2011 season to make AM 1230 the new and official "Voice of the Daytona Cubs." All 140 Cubs games will be broadcast live, beginning April 7th at 6:45pm at Brevard County, with a 20 minute pregame show before every game and extensive studio analysis after the final out. AM 1230 WSBB Radio will also broadcast the Daytona Cubs Exhibition game against Embry Riddle University live from Jackie Robinson Ballpark on April 6th, with airtime set for 6:45pm.

Skip Diegel, President of AM 1230 WSBB Radio and Diegel Communications, said, "We are all really excited. It is the perfect mix of music, news and sports for our audience and it hits our demographic perfectly."

Skip and his wife Barbara purchased AM 1230 WSBB during the spring of 2008 and moved its studio back to its original home in New Smyrna Beach. With a signal extending from South New Smyrna Beach, up to North Ormond Beach and out to Deland, the Cubs will reach its largest radio audience ever.

"We are a community radio station." Diegel said. "We are going beyond just broadcasting all of the games. We want to incorporate the games into our daytime programming, with score reports, interviews and promotional updates throughout the day."

Daytona Cubs General Manager Brady Ballard said he is thrilled about the Cubs' new radio home. "I am extremely impressed with the dedication and enthusiasm Skip and his crew have shown us already," Ballard said.
