RiverDogs Named City Paper's "Best Local Sports Team" for 12th Straight Year

CHARLESTON, SC - For the Charleston RiverDogs, providing the best fan experience possible is goal number one. The people of Charleston have spoken and the recognition keeps on coming as the RiverDogs haul in some hardware heading into the 20th season at The Joe.
For the 12th consecutive year, readers of the Charleston City Paper selected the RiverDogs as the city's "Best Local Sports Team."
"It's always rewarding for us to be named 'Best Local Sports Team' by the readership of the Charleston City Paper," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "The Charleston City Paper is an integral part of our community, and to have this honor bestowed on us by the fans and local readers in Charleston makes it something special that we don't take for granted."
Known for wholesome family entertainment, RiverDogs games are a fun experience for people of all ages. This past year was especially memorable for the club as they set a franchise record in attendance with 292,661 passing through the turnstiles at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, surpassing the previous high of 284,718 set in 2007. The RiverDogs even celebrated the milestone by giving away a 1998 Honda Civic with 285,000 miles on it.
Whether it is the game between the foul lines, the tasty food and beverage options at The Joe, the unique merchandise available in the souvenir store, the Kids Zone or the always entertaining between-innings promotions, RiverDogs baseball has become synonymous for a great night out with family and friends in Charleston.
