Wizards partner with United Way
The Wizards organization is offering a full season ticket package and discounted parking passes for 25 games with 25% of the proceeds raised being donated to the United Way fundraising drive. A set of four season tickets and a 25-game parking pass would raise $500.00 for United Way of Allen County and its member agencies.
"We realize the tremendous and positive impact that United Way and its agencies have throughout our community," Wizards General Manager Mike Nutter said. "We appreciate their efforts and want to help them achieve their fundraising goals."
As part of the donation package, any new season ticket accounts that are created between now and March 1, will receive other benefits including throwing out a ceremonial first pitch before a Wizards game and joining the Wizards radio broadcast for one inning of play-by-play to discuss the charitable contribution.
In addition, donors will be recognized in the third edition of the Wizards game-day program "Castle Chronicle" with a thank you to all companies participating and companies will be recognized, along with representatives of United Way of Allen County, in a pre-game check presentation.
"We are grateful for the spirit and enthusiasm of the Wizards and their commitment to improving lives," said United Way of Allen County President and CEO Jerry Peterson. "When the entire community comes together, amazing things can happen."
United Way of Allen County helps to fund 80 different programs and initiatives through 37 various agency partners throughout the area. Recent reports and figures indicate that United Way is nearly $500,000 short of their campaign goal of $6.3 million.
The season ticket package fundraiser supporting United Way of Allen County is open to all new season ticket accounts only. Current season ticket holders are not eligible.
"Wizards fans have shown their generosity to many great causes over the years and I am confident this will be a huge success as well," Nutter said. "To my knowledge, a program like this has never been done by the Wizards, but we see the needs of United Way and are willing to jump in and support their cause."
