John Stone to Perform National Anthem Opening Night

Atlanta Sports Legend Walter Banks to Throw Ceremonial First Pitch
March 28, 2016

Singer / songwriter John Stone is scheduled to perform the National Anthem April 7th at State Mutual Stadium, home of the Rome Braves for the season opener against the Augusta GreenJackets at 7 p.m. John Stone and the Trailer Park All Stars will also be performing on the front concourse prior to the game plus a free postgame concert. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Stone has proven himself as a world-class songwriter with the success of his first self-penned single "Shame On Me" and has opened or toured with some of today's hottest country and rock acts including Kid Rock, Alan Jackson, Aerosmith, Brad Paisley, Steve Miller, and Hank Williams Jr. His musical resume also includes live television performances, including appearances on The Today Show and as part of Tim McGraw's NFL Halftime highlights segment for Monday Night Football. He has even played at the White House several times. Stone can be readily seen at "Tootsies" in Nashville.

"I am humbled and I appreciate every time I take the stage and for every 'good' thing that happens to me," Stone says. "The 'good' things such as -- hearing my songs on the radio, being invited to the White House to play for President George W. Bush, performing on the stage of the historic Ryman Auditorium. The list continues to grow each day."

The 2016 ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by legendary Atlanta Sports Ambassador Walter Banks. Walter is no stranger to Braves fans having served as an usher with the team since 1966, the first season in Atlanta and has seen over 4,000 games counting regular season, postseason, and all-star games.

"This continues our rich tradition of opening night guests," says Rome Braves General Manager Michael Dunn. "We've had members of the Rolling Stones and Hall of Famers here, and this year is no different. We welcome John and Walter to Rome."
