Day 18: Jesus Montero

Jesus Montero was signed by the New York Yankees as a non-drafted free agent in 2006. Montero was rated as a top prospect by Baseball America in 2009, and 2010 climbing from 38th to 4th. Montero played with the Tampa Yankees for half of the 2009 season.
While in Tampa, Montero proved to be an elite player. In 48 games he had 180 at-bats and finished with a .356 batting average. He scored 26 runs, hit eight homeruns, and had 27 RBI. He was behind the plate for 26 games, made 14 assists and maintained a .989 fielding percentage.
Montero has continued to move through the Yankees Minor League system spending the entire 2010 season at the Triple-A level. He posted 21 homeruns, 75 RBI, and kept a .289 batting average.
Montero is sure to make an appearance in the Bronx this season, and the Tampa Yankees want to wish him the best of luck as he works toward a Major League position.
