SAMPLE

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston RiverDogs radio play-by-play man Danny Reed has long had an affinity for fare of all kinds. Now he'll get all that he can handle.

The RiverDogs excitable announcer has agreed to participate in the Gilroy's Slammer Pizza Challenge presented by Gilroy's Pizza Pub on King Street in downtown Charleston on June 8.

As part of the promotion, Reed will be accepting applications to join him in this ultimate pizza trek. Fans are encouraged to log on to the RiverDogs' Facebook page and www.riverdogs.com for further information and to fill out an application form telling why they would be the perfect pizza partner in this odyssey. Deadline to submit an application form is May 23.

Reed will hand pick his partner to join him for the challenge and split the cash prize if the challenge is successfully completed. Even if the team does not dust off the delectable dish, the lucky person will still join Reed during a RiverDogs home radio broadcast later in the season.

"I've wanted to do a food challenge for a long time, and this seemed like a great idea," said Reed. "Not only am I getting to enjoy some of the best pizza in the Lowcountry, but the chance to give Gilroy's some added exposure is an awesome opportunity."

In the ilk of a Man vs. Food challenge, this gluttonous pizza quest features a team of two people attempting to polish off a 28-inch Gilroy's pizza with five toppings of the team's choosing, which can weigh in excess of seven pounds.

If the super pie is demolished in less than one hour, a $500 cash prize is awarded.
