Dark Star Orchestra Set to Perform at BB&T Ballpark on August 2nd
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- BB&T Ballpark will be rocking this summer as the Dark Star Orchestra will bring their critically acclaimed live show to Uptown Charlotte on Tuesday, August 2nd. Formed in Chicago, IL in 1997, Dark Star Orchestra serves as a tribute band to the legendary rock group The Grateful Dead.
"We're excited to welcome Dark Star Orchestra to BB&T Ballpark to entertain our fans during our All-Star Season," said Charlotte Knights GM Scotty Brown. "Dead Heads both young and old should expect a phenomenal show on August 2nd."
Following the stadium show last summer in Rochester (NY), Dark Star Orchestra and the Knights look to duplicate the successful 2015 debut at Frontier Field with this summer's concert in Uptown Charlotte's BB&T Ballpark on Tuesday, August 2nd. The DSO Summer Tour includes a repeat performance in Rochester at the home of fellow International League member the Rochester Red Wings a week prior to the BB&T Ballpark show in addition to concerts up and down the Eastern Seaboard.
Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2nd and the Dark Star Orchestra will take the BB&T Ballpark stage at 7:00 p.m. General admission tickets for this event are on sale now. Tickets are priced at $20 in advance and $25 the day of the concert. VIP Upper Club seating will also be available for $30 per ticket.

On any given night, Dark Star Orchestra will perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead's 30 years of extensive touring. By recreating set lists from the past, and by developing their own sets of Dead songs, Dark Star Orchestra offers a continually evolving artistic outlet within this musical canon. Honoring both the band and the fans, Dark Star Orchestra's members seek out the unique style and sound of each era while simultaneously offering their own informed improvisations creating a sound that truly encapsulate the energy and the experience. Early August represents a significant time of the year for followers of the Grateful Dead as former lead guitarist Jerry Garcia (b. 8/1/42, d. 8/9/95) began and ended his life in August that included a 30-year tenure with the prolific touring band that performed live more than 4,000 times.
