Day 23: Ryan Pope

Ryan Pope was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 3rd round of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft. Pope played 20 games with the Tampa Yankees in 2008. He has spent the last two seasons with the Double-A Trenton Thunder.
Pope started 20 games for the T-Yanks and finished with a 7-7 record. In 104 innings, Pope struck out 72 batters and only walked 22. He gave up 57 runs and finished the season with a 4.15 ERA.
Pope has been with Double-A for the past two seasons. During his time there he totaled 32 games started and pitched a total of 235 innings. About half way through May of last season Pope made the transition to the bullpen. In 56 and one third innings Pope maintained a 3.67 ERA.
Pope is working hard this spring in hopes of climbing the ladder to the big leagues.
