Austin Romine was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2nd round of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft. Prior to the 2010 season, Baseball America named Romine the 86th top prospect. The Tampa Yankees got the pleasure of watching Romine progress throughout the entire 2009 season.

Romine played in 118 of the 140 games for the T- Yanks in 2009 and should be considered a star in the Florida State League. Not only was he elected to the FSL Mid-Season All-Star team, FSL Post-Season All-Star team, but he was also named the Florida State Leagues' Most Valuable Player. In 442 at-bats he hit 13 homeruns, had 72 RBI, and finished with a .276 batting average. As catcher, Romine played in 80 games and recorded 67 assists while maintaining a .984 fielding percentage. Romine was a solid hitter in the middle of a line-up that went on to win 2009 Florida State League Championship.

The 2009 numbers Romine put up did not go unnoticed and he got promoted to the Double-A Trenton Thunder for the 2010 season. His fielding percentage improved from .984 to a .994 and he crouched behind the plate for 99 games. At the plate he finished with 10 homeruns, 69 RBI, and a .268 batting average in 115 games.

Romine looks to continue climbing his way through the Yankees Minor League system as he plays this spring with the Major League players.
