ERIC HOSMER INDUCTED INTO NATURALS HALL OF FAME
SPRINGDALE, Ark - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals proudly announce that Eric Hosmer, a member of the Naturals 2010 Texas League Championship team, has been elected and inducted as the fourth member of the Naturals Hall of Fame.
Hosmer, the Royals' three (3) time Gold Glove winning first baseman, was the third overall pick in the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft from American Heritage High in Plantation, Florida. He now joins a couple of fellow 2010 teammates in Clint Robinson ('13) and Mike Moustakas ('15), as well as former Manager Brian Poldberg ('14) in the Naturals Hall of Fame.
Hosmer made his Naturals debut on July 17, 2010 at age 20 and proceeded to play 50 games with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals after being called up from High-A Wilmington. During the Texas League Championship season, the power-hitting left-handed first baseman homered in his first at bat at Arvest Ballpark and posted a slash line of .313/.365/.615 with 61 hits, 14 doubles, 13 home runs and 35 RBI. Hosmer led the team throughout the Texas League Playoffs by hitting six (6) home runs en route to the Naturals winning the 2010 Texas League Championship. Those six (6) clutch home runs included a pair of important home runs with the team facing elimination in Game 4 of the TLDS against the Springfield Cardinals. The Naturals would respond by winning Game 5 before dispatching the Midland RockHounds in the Texas League Championship Series.
In addition to the Texas League Championship, 2010 was a banner year for Hosmer as he was a 2010 XM Radio Futures Game Selection, 2010 Baseball America Minor League First-Team All Star, 2010 Arizona Fall League Rising Star Selection, 2010 MiLB.com Organization All-Star (KC), Frank White Award Winner as the Royals top fielder, and a Member of Team USA at the Pan Am Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico.
Hosmer made his Major League debut on May 6, 2011. The former Natural holds a career batting average of .280 with 77 home runs and 368 RBI over five season with the Royals. Hosmer is the all-time Royals leader in post-season RBI (29), ranks second in Kansas City post-season history in runs (18) and tied for second in post-season home runs (6).
