Senators Score 10 again in 10-6 Win over Altoona
On another frigid evening in Altoona, the Senators continued to be patient at the plate pounding out 13 hits and drawing 10 walks on their way to a 10-6 win over Altoona. Harrisburg has started the season with back-to-back ten run games and have 27 hits through the first two games. Every Senators starter had at least one hit Friday night.
Not to be outdone by the offense, the pitching staff was sharp Friday as well. Tyler Mapes started and tossed five solid innings in earning his first double-A win. Mapes scattered eight hits and struck out five and didn't walk a batter. The bullpen was a big story Friday as Gilberto Mendez, Bryan Harper, and Abel de los Santos combined to retire 12 of the 13 batters they faced including the final 12 in the game.
The top three in the lineup for the Senators all came to the plate six times, combined to score six runs with five hits and four RBIs. Rafael Bautista scored four times alone for the Senators. He reached base five times Friday after reaching three times on Thursday.
The game was tied at two apiece into the fifth inning when the Senators took over. They scored two in the fifth, with two more in the eighth and ninth innings, cruising to the win.
Wilmer Difo, Shawn Pleffner, Kevin Keyes, Chris Bostick and Isaac Ballou all had two hits for the Senators. Pleffner drove in three runs to give him five in two games. Keyes and Ballou also drove in two runs. Bostick and Ballou had the only two extra base hits for the Sens with Ballou's being a two-run triple to give the Senators the lead in the fourth inning.
The Senators go for their third straight over Altoona on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. RH Reynaldo Lopez makes his double-A debut for the Senators. The game can be heard beginning at 12:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am or through the iHeart radio app or through the Tune In app.
