Rainiers score 13 to win series finale over Isotopes

April 10, 2016

The Tacoma Rainiers (3-1) pounded out 15 hits in the series finale on Sunday afternoon to defeat the Albuquerque Isotopes (1-3) 13-1 at Cheney Stadium.

The Rainiers struck early in the contest, scoring four runs in the first inning on four hits. Stefen Romero added to Tacoma's lead in the top of the second with a two-run single up the middle.

Romero then belted a two-run home run past left field in the fourth to increase their advantage to 8-0. The home run was the first the Isotopes had surrendered this season. Five more runs came across the plate for Tacoma in the fifth inning to bring the score to 13-0.

The Isotopes scored their lone run of the game in the top of the seventh, after Jordan Patterson and Will Swanner led off the inning with singles and Tim Smalling brought home Patterson with a RBI groundout.

The Isotopes now head to Reno to begin a four-game set against the Aces on Monday. Left-hander Ryan Carpenter is slated to pitch for Albuquerque in what will be his Triple-A debut. First pitch in the series opener from Greater Nevada Field is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
