Cougars Cater to Fans with New Gluten Free Options

Menu Items Include Sandwiches, Jerky and Hot Dogs

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars introduced several new food items for the 2016 season on Opening Night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark including the Gluten Free Grill.

One of the only Minor League ballparks to feature a stand-alone gluten free cart, the menu consists of a variety of options that are both traditional and non-traditional to the atmosphere of a baseball game.

Fans can enjoy multiple snacks such as chips, beef jerky, hot dogs as well as veggies and hummus. The sandwich selection includes ham, turkey and chicken all of which are served on gluten free buns. For those that are over the age of 21, there is also gluten free beer available for purchase.

Located on the main concourse behind home plate, food selections at the Gluten Free Grill will expand throughout the season. The Cougars are already in the process of creating two signature gluten free sandwich items.

The ballpark burger selection was a home run with fans as the response to new items such as The Fatty and infused burgers, including asiago with sun dried tomato and basil plus bacon and cheddar, was overwhelmingly positive.

Fans were happy to see that in addition to many new items, their favorites such as the foot long polish sausage, half-pound hotdog and other fun and flavorful sausages were still on the menu.

Even with temperatures on Opening Night not reaching above 40 degrees, fans showed their enthusiasm for the Cougars own signature Dippin' Dots flavor, Cougar Freeze. A colorful blend of lime green, blue and orange ice cream beads, Cougar Freeze was the #1 selling Dippin' Dots flavor for the night.

Another popular treat combines a ballpark classic along with a local favorite. Fans flocked to the Sweet Spot, along the first base concourse, to enjoy the new combination of funnel cakes topped with Oberweis ice cream.
