February 7, 2007
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The State College Spikes, Class A Short-Season affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, today announced that they have agreed to continue the club's broadcast and marketing partnership with First Media Radio, LLC through the 2007 season. As part of deal, 3WZ-FM (WZWW, 95.3) in State College will return as the Spikes' flagship radio station in 2007.

3WZ-FM will broadcast all 76 New York-Penn League regular season games and any postseason action. Audio of Spikes games will also be available locally in State College on Cable Television Channel 4. Also as part of the agreement, the Spikes and First Media Radio will enjoy a mutual marketing and promotional relationship which will give the Spikes a large presence on 3WZ and their sister stations, while 3WZ will enjoy a similar presence with the team at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

"We are extremely happy to have 3WZ back as our flagship station for the 2007 season," said Spikes' general manager Rick Janac. "3WZ's large audience, strong FM signal and highly recognizable presence throughout State College and Centre County makes them the perfect partner for Spikes baseball."

In addition to 3WZ-FM in State College, First Media Radio, LLC owns and operates six other stations in Central Pennsylvania: WOWQ-FM 102.1 (Dubois), WMRF-FM 95.7 (Lewistown), WLAK-FM 103.5 (Huntingdon), WQYX-FM 93.1 (Clearfield), WCPA-AM 900 (Clearfield) and WIEZ-AM 670 (Lewistown).

"We're very happy to be on board again this year as the Spikes' flagship radio station," said First Media Radio district manager Mike McGough. "It's the hottest ticket in town during the summer, and the inaugural season was a blast. We're all looking forward to a great 2007 season."

The Spikes are also pleased to announce that Steve Jones will return for his second season as the "Voice of the Spikes." Jones has one of the most familiar voices throughout the Centre County region, serving as the play-by-play announcer for both Penn State football and men's basketball. He is also one of the hosts of the popular "Dave and Steve" morning show on 3WZ.

The Spikes will open their 2007 season on June 19, when they take on their intrastate rivals, the Williamsport Crosscutters. Season tickets, mini-plans, flex books and group packages are currently available for the 2007 season, and can be purchased by calling the Spikes toll-free at 877-99-SPIKES (877-997-7453).
