Michael Ynoa Promoted to AAA Charlotte

Barons Bring Back Sanburn before Hitting the Road to Tennessee
April 16, 2016

BIRMINGHAM - Just days after a whirlwind weekend saw him go to the Major Leagues and back to the Birmingham Barons roster within 24 hours, RHP Michael Ynoa will once again depart the Barons after being promoted to AAA Charlotte late last night.

Ynoa, a 24-year-old right-handed pitcher from Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, pitched four flawless innings for the Barons this season, striking out four while facing the minimum amount of batters each outing. His last appearance with Birmingham came April 14th when Ynoa needed only eight pitches to retire the side in a 5-3 Barons victory.

Listed at 6'7" and 255 pounds, Ynoa had not pitched above the High-A level until this season. He was acquired by the White Sox organization from the Oakland Athletics farm system prior to the 2015 season.

In a corresponding move, the Barons will receive RHP Nolan Sanburn from the Winston-Salem Dash prior to Saturday night's game against the Tennessee Smokies. Sanburn, a 24-year-old from Kokomo, Indiana, rejoins the Barons after starting 2016 in Class A where he allowed just four hits in 7.2 scoreless innings. Standing 6'1" and weighing 210 pounds, Sanburn pitched for the Barons last season, posting an 0-2 record with 30 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched.
