GreenJackets Take Opener Vs Rome 5-2
Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (5-7) stopped their losing streak with an impressive 5-2 win Monday night over the visiting Rome Braves (4-8) on the first Feed Your Face Monday of the season.
Augusta's offense got started quickly with two runs in the first inning. Lucius Fox scored on a fly out by Dillon Dobson, and Dylan Davis came around to score thanks to an RBI single by Skyler Ewing. Lucius Fox also made an impressive play at shortstop, his back away from the play, and still able to get the out at first base.
Dylan Davis continued swinging the bat well, going 2-2, and Gustavo Cabrera made his 2016 season debut slicing a pare of hits, going 2-4 with a double and RBI. Mac Marshall threw the ball well into the fifth inning, and Jake McCasland picked up his first win of the season out of the bullpen. He struck out three over 2.2 innings of work. Ryan Koziol picked up his first save of the season, pitching 2.0 innings.
Tomorrow night the GreenJackets return back to action for the second game of their series with the Rome Braves at 7:05pm. The gates will open to fans starting at 6:00pm. It's the first Tuesday Brewsday of the season, as Fans can enjoy half-priced price soft drinks and draft beers throughout the ballgame!
The probable starting pitchers are Patrick Weigel (1-0, 1.80 ERA) and Michael Santos (1-1, 5.40 ERA).
