Chukchansi Park logo unveiled
This will be the first year that the downtown stadium, home of the Grizzlies and Fresno Fuego soccer club, takes on its new moniker.
"We are looking forward to kicking off the 2007 baseball season and opening the stadium under its new name," said Chris Cummings, general partner of the Fresno Baseball Club. "With Chukchansi as our partner, we know Chukchansi Park will become a hot spot for entertainment in the Central Valley."
The new logo features "Chukchansi Park" in arched block lettering that connects two pillars, invoking the image of the stadium's main entrances. Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino's familiar sun and peaks mark sits atop the archway. The words "Downtown Fresno" anchor the logo and signify the stadium's location in the heart of the city.
"We feel the new logo and relationship with the Fresno Baseball Club will help the revitalization of downtown Fresno," said Jeff Livingston, Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino general manager. "This is our way of showing the community that we are committed to its people and future involvement throughout the Central Valley."
Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino purchased the stadium naming rights from the Fresno Baseball Club in September 2006. Chukchansi agreed to a 15-year, $16 million deal that included $1 million of the total investment to be funded in the first year for capital improvements and deferred maintenance. The agreement is currently the largest stadium naming rights deal in all of Minor League Baseball.
The Grizzlies' 2007 season opens on Thursday, April 5 against the Portland Beavers at 7:05 p.m. Season tickets and mini-plans are now available. For more information regarding the Grizzlies upcoming season or events at Chukchansi Park, please call (559) 320-HITS or visit www.fresnogrizzlies.com.
