Spikes anthem auditions set for this Saturday

Tryouts part of Spikes Spring Kickoff event
April 7, 2011
The State College Spikes will once again conduct free and open tryouts for any individual or group interested in singing the Star Spangled Banner prior to a 2011 home game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

This year's anthem auditions will take place Saturday, April 9 as part of the Spikes Spring Kickoff event. The event, which coincides with the first day of single-game ticket sales for the 2011 season, runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration for the National Anthem tryouts will run from 11 a.m. to Noon with performances beginning at 11:30 inside Suite 519 and 520. Those interested in auditioning should report first to the Main Ticket Plaza at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

All performances must be a capella, and the anthem can be performed solo, with a chorus, or as an instrumental. A panel of guest judges, including PJ from the B94.5 Morning Zoo and Jeff Brown from THE BUS 93.7 FM, will help the Spikes evaluate each performance and ultimately decide the roster of singers who will perform the anthem prior one of the team's 38 home games this summer.

The National Anthem Tryouts will be just one of the many activities taking place at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Saturday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
