First-Place RiverDogs Think Big, Go Small for another Fantastic Homestand at The Joe

CHARLESTON, SC - The first-place Charleston RiverDogs return home after a weeklong road trip against the Lakewood BlueClaws and Delmarva Shorebirds. Celebrating 20 years at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, think small as the RiverDogs host the Micro Championship Wrestling team, celebrate Cinco de Mayo, launch fireworks in honor of a Charleston music icon, and camp out for another exciting homestand at The Joe. 

The RiverDogs will host the West Virginia Power and the Hickory Crawdads, both for the first time this season from May 2-10. 

Wednesday, May 4, 7:05pm: Service Industry Night / "Wine Down Wednesday"/ Seniors Eat Free: The RiverDogs clash with the West Virginia Power in an inter-divisional matchup. Join the RiverDogs and the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association as they help recognize individuals in the local service industry. Service industry employees, who show proof with a pay stub, will receive 30 percent off of their game ticket and food. It's also a "Wine Down Wednesday," presented by WEZL, as 50 lucky fans will be given free wine glasses and discounts in the Wine Garden from 6-7pm. There will be numerous in-game contests that spotlight our service industry members. It'll also be Senior Wednesday as seniors who enter the stadium before 7pm will receive a free hot dog, chips and a drink.

Thursday, May 5, 7:05pm: Thirsty Thursday / Teacher of the Year / Cinco de Mayo: Join DJ Natty Heavy in the Ashley View Pub for Budweiser Thirsty Thursday presented by 95 SX that features $1 draft beers on Cinco de Mayo. Throw on a sombrero and enjoy RiverDogs baseball along with festive between-inning contests. Also, the RiverDogs will honor the Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year at the game.

Friday, May 6, 7:05pm: Darius Rucker's Surprise 50th Birthday Party / Friday Night Fireworks: Can you keep a secret? Join the RiverDogs as we celebrate Hootie and the Blowfish front man Darius Rucker, who turns 50 years old, and pay homage to the Charleston native with a Home Telecom postgame fireworks show to some classic Darius Rucker music. The RiverDogs will wear specialty red uniforms to honor our military as part of ISHPI Red Shirt Fridays presented by Mix 96. Fans that wear red to the game get $1 off their ticket purchase at the gate with the option to donate that dollar to the Wounded Warrior Corps. Sign the giant birthday card, enjoy birthday cake eating contests, and revel in Hootie and the Blowfish and Rucker's music being played throughout the game.  The Boy Scouts will also be in attendance and have the unique opportunity to sleep on the emerald green outfield grass after the game.

Saturday, May 7, 6:05pm: Saturdays Live at The Joe Presents Micro Championship Wrestling / Goose Creek Night / Girl Scouts Night: As the RiverDogs take on Hickory for the first time, fans can continue to expect the unexpected as they join in "With the Crowd" in a summer series of postgame shows. Arrive early to get your player autographs on the concourse and stay late for the third "Saturday Live at The Joe" presented by Star 99.7. The RiverDogs continue the Saturday series ringing up a HUGE postgame act with the Micro Championship Wrestling crew. It'll be a night of small wrestlers and big entertainment.  You might even be quizzed on Girl Scout cookies on Girl Scouts Night at the ballpark.

Sunday, May 8, 5:05pm: Holy City Sunday / Kids Club Sunday / Mother's Day: The RiverDogs embrace Charleston's "Holy City" moniker that has defined the community as a place of unity for centuries. The club will wear specialty uniforms that proudly display the "Holy City" namesake across their pinstriped tops with a new 'HC' emblem on the caps. There will be a special Mother's Day area in the ballpark with manicures, flowers and massages. Mothers will be involved in several games throughout the game with races, trivia and more. It's also a Kids Club Sunday where all Kid's Club members get in FREE. In association with Charleston County Parks & Recreation and Y102.5, every Sunday features free parking and Lowcountry youth eat free, enjoy pregame catch on the field and run the bases postgame presented by CPI Security.

Monday, May 9, 7:05pm: Blackbaud "Dogs With A Cause" benefitting Tri-County Family Ministries / Dog Day presented by Magic 107.3: We put the "Dog" in RiverDogs as part of a Dog Day in conjunction with Camp Bow Wow and Magic 107.3. Bring your pup to the park to cheer on the RiverDogs as you enjoy $1 beers and $1 hot dogs presented by Miller Lite. "Dogs with a Cause" also returns on Monday nights, in association with Blackbaud, Inc. The RiverDogs and Blackbaud, the local software and services leader for the global philanthropic community, will share the spotlight with a different local nonprofit each Monday. On this night, we focus on Tri-County Family Ministries. 

Tuesday, May 10, 11:05am: Education Day: It's Education Day at The Joe, as the RiverDogs welcome students from around the Lowcountry. Over 5,000 local students and their teachers will play hooky for the day as the RiverDogs finish the series with the Crawdads. It's sure to be a fun day at the park for kids and adults alike.
