Taylor Ard extends hit streak to ten games
Jupiter- FL-- The Jupiter Hammerheads (9-13) looked to shake off a series loss to the Fort Myers Miracle during a seven game homestand last night against the Bradenton Marauders (10-12). Luis Castillo (3-1) took the ball and had a bumpy start allowing two runs on five hits in a lopsided defeat 10-0. It was the lowest inning start for Castillo on the season and the first time he did not record a strikeout.
Taylor Ard has been on a quite a roll lately, going 1-for-3 today he extends his hit streak to ten games, advancing his batting average to .275 on the season. Brian Anderson had a rare off day at the plate, finishing 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. Brad Haynal completed his day 1-for-4 as the Hammerheads had trouble getting much offense going against Brandon Waddell (4-0) who carried a perfect game into the 6th before Jupiter recorded the first hit of the ball game.
Arturo Rodriguez broke up the perfect effort by Waddell with a single, his only hit of the night in three plate appearances. The Hammerheads left six runners on base, Bradenton left 10 on base. The Marauders finished 8-for-17 with runners in scoring position, the Hammerheads just 0-for-4. Waddell notched his fourth win of the year, working 6.0 innings, allowing just two hits and recording seven strikeouts.
The game lasted two hours and 42 minutes at Roger Dean Stadium. Tomorrow sets up game two between the Marauders and the Hammerheads, Colten Brewer (1-3, 3.60 ERA) is the probable for Bradenton and Michael Mader will look for his first win of the season (0-0, 2.87 ERA) for your Jupiter Hammerheads.

Currently the Hammerheads fall to last in the Southern Division, 4.0 games back of a threeway tie for first place between the St. Lucie Mets (13-9), Palm Beach Cardinals (13-9) and Fort Myers Miracle (13-9).
