One night after the first win in team history, the Tucson Padres suffered their first loss. Matt Macri hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning, breaking a tie and leading the Sky Sox to a 5-3 win. The Padres had a 2-1 lead until the bottom of the seventh, when the Sky Sox scored twice on a sacrifice fly by Macri and a Willy Taveras RBI single. The Padres tied the game in the eighth on an error by Mike Jacobs, but could not score in the ninth after Colorado Springs took its final lead.
Tucson starter Will Inman pitched five strong innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out four without walking a batter. Reliever Jon Leicester began his season with a scoreless outing out of the Tucson bullpen. With wind conditions calmer than last night in Colorado Springs, both sides had smaller hit totals, with Tucson producing 17 fewer than Thursday's 21 hit output.
