PENSACOLA, FL - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster moves that affect the Shuckers roster prior to tonight's 6:30pm series opener against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

SUMMARY:

  • Jaye Chapman, RHP, has been transferred to Triple-A Colorado Springs from Biloxi
  • Tyler Spurlin, RHP, has been transferred to Biloxi from A+ Brevard County

Chapman, 28, currently leads all of Minor League Baseball in saves with 10 and leads the Southern League in saves, appearances (12) and games finished (12). Chapman has retired 34 of 36 batters faced this season posting a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA over the 12 games and 11.1 IP. Chapman walked none and struck out 15 with opposing batters going 2-for-26 (.056 AVG) against him. Chapman was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Brewers in November, 2015 and was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2005 out of Chipola College (FL).

Spurlin, 24, led the Brevard County Manatees in saves (4) and was 0-1 with a 1.69 ERA (2er/10.2ip) in nine games, one walk and nine strikeouts. Spurlin was 4-for-4 in save opportunities and opposing batters posting a .216 AVG. Spurlin was 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in 2015 for the 'Tees, striking out 27 and issuing 17 walks. The Woodlands, TX native was signed by the Brewers as a non-draft free agent in June, 2013. Spurlin is a graduate of Rice University.

The Shuckers current roster is made up of 25 active players and one on the disabled list. 

The Shuckers return to MGM Park for a five-game homestand against the Miami Marlins affiliate Jacksonville Suns, Monday, May 9th through Friday, May 13th. The homestand features Bark in the Park, presented by Raising Cane's on May 9th, Diamondhead, Long Beach and Pass Christian Community Night on May 10th, Negro League Tribute Night, honoring the Biloxi Dodgers and Double Play Thursday $2 ballpark specials on May 12th and post-game fireworks on May 13th.
