Mobile Drops Series Finale to Chattanooga 2-1
MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears fell just one run shy of tying the game in the ninth inning, dropping the series finale against the Chattanooga Lookouts 2-1 on Sundayafternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium. Despite the loss, the BayBears (11-17) finished the homestand 3-2, good enough for their first series win at "The Hank" in 2016.
It took until the bottom of the ninth inning for Mobile to post a run. DH, Stewart Ijames powered out a solo homer, his third of the year but that would be all the BayBears could manage on Mother's Day.
The Lookouts (13-17) scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning. SS, Leo Reginatto reached on a single to begin the frame and CF, Shannon Wilkerson and 3B, TJ White both followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases. 2B, Ryan Walker came up in the next at bat and drove home the first run with a sacrifice fly. LF, Zack Granite followed with a RBI ground out to give Chattanooga the 2-0 advantage.
Chattanooga was led by starting RHP Ryan Eades (1-2). The former second-round daft selection by the Minnesota Twins held the BayBears scoreless, surrendering just four hits over seven full innings.
