Kernels and Twins announce a number of player transactions

Roster now at 25 active players

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce the following transactions: RHP Michael Cederoth and OF Daniel Kihle have been activated from the 7-day disabled list; C Brian Olson joins the Kernels from Extended Spring Training; RHP Logan Lombana has been placed on the Restricted List; and C Bryant Hayman has been assigned to Extended Spring Training. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Cederoth went on the DL back on April 7th with a left oblique strain. The Twins selected Michael in the 3rd round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of San Diego State University and he spent the 2015 season with the Kernels.

Kihle went on the DL back on April 30th with a right knee strain. He was selected by the Twins in the 18th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Wichita State. He spent last season at Elizabethton where he hit .273 with 2 HR and 21 RBI in 45 games.

The Twins selected Olson in the 34th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Seattle University. He split time last season between the GCL Twins and Elizabethton, hitting a combined .302 with 2 HR and 11 RBI in 32 games.

Lombana made seven relief appearances for the Kernels this season, posting a 3.38 ERA in 16 IP. He allowed six runs (all earned) on 16 hits, walked five and struck out 16.

Hayman played in 12 games for the Kernels, batting .121 (4-33) with 2 RBI.

Cederoth, Kihle and Olson are all active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game vs. Kane County. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25, with five players currently on the DL and one player on the Restricted List.

The Kernels open a three game home series against the Kane County Cougars tonight at 6:35 PM. Gates open at 5:30 for Mark Down Monday where regular hot dogs are just $1.50 plus small popcorn, ice cream sandwiches and chips are just $1 all game. The current home series continues through Wednesday, May 11th.
