"We are delighted to welcome Little Joe and his band on what will be a great evening of entertainment," Hooks VP/GM Michael Wood said. "With so many musical influences, there will be something for everyone.
"He's a true pioneer in Tex-Mex music, a mix of traditional Norteno and Country, Blues and Rock styles."
The seventh of 13 children, Little Joe has been performing for over six decades. At the age of 15 in 1955, he began playing with his cousin's band, David Coronado & the Latinaires, as a guitarist. Their recording debut, "Safari Part 1 and 2," an instrumental single, was released by Corpus Christi's Torrero Records three years later.
In 1959, Little Joe took over leadership of the group and renamed it Little Joe & the Latinaires.
By 1970, after playing and spending time in San Francisco and the Bay Area, Joe discovered Latinismo, a strong musical world absent in Texas at that time. It had profound change on his music and cultural values, which prompted a name change from The Latinaires to La Familia.
His album Dies y Seis De Septiembre won the Grammy for Best Mexican-American/Tejano Music Performance of 1991; Little Joe has been nominated for Grammy Awards on two other occasions. Among deals with major record companies, he's formed five labels of his own.
Today, Joe tours the world - trailblazing, looking forward to new challenges, breaking down cultural and musical barriers, and continuing to innovate his musical style. For him, music is about bringing people together and promoting peace and harmony.
