Rhett Wiseman wins game two against Kannapolis for Suns

May 14, 2016

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (21-12) took on the Kannapolis Intimidators (16-18) in game two of four in South Atlantic League play Friday night at Municipal Stadium.

When the game is tied in the bottom of the ninth at the Muni, you do not want to face the bats of the Suns. The Suns seem to always find away to grab a late victory.

Rhett Wiseman was the key to unlocking the 1-1 dead lock on Friday night. Wiseman came up to the plate with runners on first and second and two outs. He was worked into a 0 and 2 count and ended up taking a high and inside fastball completely out of the park to give the Suns a 4-1 victory in tremendous fashion.

Kannapolis got the scoring started in the fourth inning when Cody Daily hit a two out solo home run. Max Schrock was not to be out done in the sixth inning and wanted to join the homerun party as he tied the game up with a line drive homerun, his first of the season, over the right field wall.

The set up for the Suns in the bottom of the ninth inning was one that would Intimidate any reliever. Up first in the inning was Kelvin Gutierrez. He knocked a lead off single off of Kannapolis reliever Yelmison Peralta (0-1). He then stole second base and Matt Page drew a walk.

With first and second occupied, Ryan Ripken came up to the plate and struck out on a curve ball.

Rhett Wisemen strolled up and won the game with swing of the bat.

Jefry Rodriguez was the starting pitcher for the Suns. He threw 5.0 innings only giving up one run and allowed three hits. He walked one and struck out five. The win was given to Jorge Pantoja (5-0) who came in to the game in the ninth, striking out one and not giving up a run.

The Suns send out RHP Joan Baez (1-3, 4.44) to face LHP Johnathan Frebis (3-1, 3.07) for Kannapolis in game three of our at Municipal Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and gates opening at 5:30pm.
