Lavisky's Four RBI Powers Captains By Hot Rods 10-7

(Bowling Green)- The Captains had to battle back twice late in the game on Saturday night, but when the dust settled it was Lake County defeating Bowling Green 10-7. Alex Lavisky hit his first homerun of the year in the eighth inning a two run shot, in the ninth inning Lavisky drove in two more with a two-run single.

Jason Smit lead the second inning off with a solo homerun, it was second of the year giving the Captains a 1-0 edge.

Lake County starter struggled in the second inning as Bowling Green scored twice on Trey Haley. Haley walked three, hit a batter, and both runs crossed the plate on wild pitches to make it 2-1 Hot Rods.

Captains scored twice in the third inning, an RBI triple by Jesus Aguilar to score Urshela. Then Aguilar scored on a wild pitch.

Bowling Green regained the lead in their half of the third, an RBI triple by Kevin Kiermaier, and then a sacrifice fly by Derek Dietrich making 4-3.

In the ninth, with the Captains trailing 7-6, Tyler Cannon walked to start things off. A couple of wild pitches by Steve Hiscock and Lake County tied the game at seven when Cannon scored. With two on, and two out, Jason Smit doubled in the go ahead run scoring Aguilar to make 8-7. Then Lavisky added some insurance.

Nick Sarainides picked up the win, despite allowing three runs and cough up the Captains 6-4 lead in the eighth. Sarainides allowed the runs to score on four hits, not walking anyone and striking out one. Clayton Ehlert earned the save pitching ninth, giving up a hit, a walk and striking out one. Hiscock took the loss for the Hot Rods allowing seven runs on seven hits in just two innings of work.

Lake County and Bowling Green will wrap up their three game series Sunday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark at 3:05PM. Getting the start for the Captains will RHP Mike Goodnight (1-1) vs. LHP C.J. The Captains return home Monday April 18th at 7:00PM for a six game home stand, hosting the Lansing Lugnuts and Bowling Green Hot Rods.
