Roller's Home Run Sparks Bulls' Offense

Snell strikes out nine in six innings to take league strikeouts lead

DURHAM - Kyle Roller homered, and Juniel Querecuto drove in two runs on an RBI double to give the Bulls a 4-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings on Friday at the DBAP.

Roller opened scoring with a solo home run to lead off the fifth. The Bulls added another run in the inning when Querecuto singled, moved to third on a single, then was brought home on a Daniel Robertson sac fly.

Blake Snell (2-3) earned the win with six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks, and tying his season high strikeout total with nine punch outs. The southpaw now holds the league lead in strikeouts, with 56, and is striking out 12.29 batters per nine innings pitched.

The Bulls added two more runs in the sixth when Dayron Varona led off with a single. He moved to second on Richie Shaffer's single, then loaded the bases on Kyle Roller's single up the middle. Juniel Querecuto brought home Varona and Shaffer with a double.

Querecuto finished the game 2 for 3 with a double, a run, two RBIs and a walk. Daniel Robertson was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Dayron Varona extended his hitting streak to 10 games with his 1 for 4 effort.

The Bulls host the Red Wings again at 6:35 p.m. Saturday at the DBAP, and will debut their Bull City Blues uniforms.
