Power's new staff right up Alley Grill
"Taking over the restaurant operation has been a major undertaking and incredible learning experience," said Executive Vice President Andy Milovich. "I'm very excited to have assembled such an outstanding leadership team to oversee the Power Alley Grill Restaurant and Catering. Shawn, Anthony and Valerie will allow us to provide first-class food and first-class catering that will make Appalachian Power Park a destination 12 months a year."
Huffman comes to the Power Alley Grill with over 12 years of managerial experience in the Corporate Restaurant Industry. After a two-year stint as the Assistant General Manager with Damon's Clubhouse, Shawn has served as a General Manager for the last 12 years, beginning with Applebee's Restaurant for nine years and O'Charley's for the last three.
Bowyer, who has specialized in culinary arts and worked under three Master Chefs, joins the staff after serving three years at Edgewood Country Club as Golf Course Chef and Sous Chef. Anthony has also served stints as a Line Chef and Apprentice at both the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulfur Springs and Tin Angel in Pittsburgh.
Oyler joins the staff after serving the past five years as the Director of Catering for the University of Charleston. She brings with her 34 years of experience in food and beverage working for many major restaurants and hotels such as Marriott, Holiday Inn and Fifth Quarter Restaurant. She has also catered and served for many high-profile clients such as Vice President Al Gore, Vice President Dick Cheney, Reba McEntire, Jeff Gordon, Governor Wise and Governor Manchin among others.
The Power Alley Grill will finish the construction of the catering space on the first floor in the next few weeks and expects to have the space available for the beginning of the season on April 5. The space, which will be known as "The Clubhouse," can accommodate parties of up to 150 people and will be available on a year-round basis.
"The combination of a first-class ballpark with indoor and outdoor event space, a creative and dedicated marketing team, and top-level restaurant and catering personnel will make Appalachian Power Park the ultimate destination for parties and events on a year-round basis," said Milovich. "The team has hosted company picnics that included games, food, and fun for groups of 2,000 people in the last two years. The addition of the banquet space, the new party deck and the Power Alley Grill's new leadership will give us the opportunity to host events from 10 to 10,000 with menus that will satisfy any taste."
