Throwback Thursdays to feature Warthogs jerseys

Dash to wear Warthogs jerseys on May 26, June 16, July 14
May 24, 2016

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 24, 2016) - For the first time at BB&T Ballpark, the Winston-Salem Dash will don commemorative Warthogs jerseys during three Throwback Thursdays this season. The Warthogs return to Winston-Salem this Thursday, May 26, along with June 16 and July 14.

Winston-Salem will sport a black jersey with "HOGS" in red on the front, which was one of the Warthogs' home jerseys during that era. In addition, beloved mascot Wally will make an appearance at all three Throwback Thursdays. Wally and current Dash mascot Bolt will meet for the first time.

Later this season, the organization will auction off these Warthogs game-used jerseys, with proceeds benefitting the Winston-Salem Sports Foundation. The Foundation supports youth sports in Winston-Salem and its surrounding communities, and it aims to give every child the opportunity and resources to participate.

Tickets for this season's Throwback Thursdays start as low as $8 and are available by calling the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visiting wsdash.com. Every Thursday game is a Lowes Foods Thirsty Thursday, with select beers available for only $1 through the seventh inning.

Before Winston-Salem became the Dash in 2009, the franchise enjoyed a successful 14-season run as the Warthogs from 1995-2008. During the Warthogs era, Winston-Salem posted a 944-1004 (.485) record and claimed the 2003 Mills Cup, the club's most recent Carolina League championship.

The Warthogs also supplied many talented players for the Chicago White Sox successful run in the 2000s, which included a World Series title in 2005. In all, eight Warthogs went on to become Major League All-Stars, including infielder Aaron Boone, left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez and outfielder Carlos Lee.
