Grizzlies mascot Parker becomes ordained minister, will perform in-ballpark marriages

Two tickets for $20 includes a FREE wedding performed by Parker T. Bear, part of "My Big Fat Fresno Wedding Show" promotion at Thursday night's game vs. Triple-A Dodgers
May 24, 2016

FRESNO, Calif. - Looking to get married, without all the hubbub of planning a wedding? Well, instead of doing it the boring way at some municipal building, do it the fun way and get married by the Fresno Grizzlies' mascot!

Yes, you read that correctly: Parker T. Bear is now an officially ordained minister (the internet is amazing), and he's ready to marry YOU and your significant other on the spot during Thursday night's Grizzlies game at Chukchansi Park (7:05 p.m. first pitch). As far as we know, Parker is the only officially ordained Mascot-Minister in professional sports licensed to perform weddings. He even has the certificate and card to make it official (image attached!), just in case any new couples were afraid this isn't on the up and up.

Thursday's promotion at the ballpark is "My Big Fat Fresno Wedding Show," as the Grizzlies play their final game of the season against the Triple-A Dodgers from Oklahoma City. In addition to countless wedding vendors, from flowers to dresses to DJs lining the concourse in the event you're planning a non-mascot wedding, Parker will legit marry anyone interested during the game Thursday night, and will also officiate vow renewal for already-married couples.

If you're looking to marry at Thursday's game, the Grizzlies want to make sure it's as inexpensive as possible; couples looking to marry can pick up two tickets to the game for just 20 bucks with a marriage license, a 50% discount off field box prices day of game. (A marriage license will be needed for a Parker-officiated wedding.)

"People get married without a big wedding all the time, we're just providing the most colorful backdrop for it. Getting hitched by Parker at a Grizzlies game will be a memory that lasts a lifetime," said Sam Hanson, Grizzlies Marketing Director.

If any ladies out there are single and planning on coming to the game, no worries: It's also Ladies Night at Chukchansi Park and another Tecate Thursday, with $2 Tecate and Tecate Light (24 oz cans!) available through the fifth inning!
