Bulls Score Shutout In Columbus

Franklin's Sky-Aided Double Lifts Durham, 2-0
May 27, 2016

Columbus, OH --- Nick Franklin's routine flyball in the eighth inning was lost in the twilight Columbus sky, gifting the Durham Bulls a 2-0 win over the Clippers on Friday night.

Former Bulls outfielder Joey Butler could not locate Franklin's flyball, which ultimatley landed 10 feet behind him for a double, allowing Patrick Leonard and Daniel Robertson to score the game's only runs.

Parker Markel (W, 1-1), Adam Kolarek and Dylan Floro (S, 2) combined to close out the win for Durham (20-29).

Jaime Schultz worked six shutout innings, allowing five hits, all of which led off innings for the Clippers (26-21). However, the Bulls turned a season-high five double plays in the game as they won the first meeting of the season between the clubs.

Markel earned the win with two scoreless innings.

The shutout was the second this season for the Bulls.

The series continues on Saturday night with Austin Pruitt (3-2, 2.54) opposing Cody Anderson (0-0, 6.35) at 7:15 PM ET.
