T.J. Weir's career outing helps Eyes sink Ports

Storm righty strikes out 12 in series opener to kick-start weekend
May 28, 2016

LAKE ELSINORE - A career outing by Lake Elsinore Storm starting pitcher T.J. Weir propelled the San Diego Padres affiliate to a 3-0 win over the Stockton Ports at The Diamond Friday, securing game one of a four-game Memorial Day Weekend series.

The scoring started in the bottom of the first. Josh VanMeter singled with one out and later scored on Luis Tejada's RBI knock to put The Eyes up 1-0.

Lake Elsinore would add single runs in the third and sixth - the latter featured a two-out rally capped by a Marcus Greene, Jr. RBI base hit - but one run was all Weir would need. The Kokomo, Indiana native shutout the Ports over seven innings of work while striking out a Storm season-high 12 hitters.

Brad Wieck and Yimmi Brasoban (S, 5) each worked a perfect inning of relief to cement the victory.
