Dahl has perfect day at plate for Hartford

David Dahl hasn't actually played in Hartford yet, but he's definitely enjoying life at the plate as a Yard Goat.

Colorado's second-ranked prospect tied a career high with four hits with two RBIs, two doubles and a walk as Double-A Hartford topped Portland, 6-3, at Hadlock Field.

In 46 games with the Yard Goats, Dahl is doing better in just about every offensive category than he did in 73 games last season with the New Britain Rock Cats, the organization's Double-A affilate -- namely five more homers (11), nine more RBIs (34) and 10 more walks (21).

On Sunday, Dahl put the Yard Goats on the board in the first inning with a double to left field for his team-leading 33rd RBI of the year. A couple innings later, MLB.com's No. 41 overall prospect collected his 15th double of the season to lead off the fourth.

The 22-year-old also knocked a two-out single to center in the fifth and then slapped an RBI base hit to left with two outs in the seventh.

In doing so, Dahl tallied four hits for the sixth time in his career. The 22-year-old had most recently reached the mark on May 15, 2015 with New Britain. Dahl got another opportunity to bat in the ninth, working a five-pitch walk.

After Sunday's big performance, Dahl is hitting .405 (17-for-42) with nine extra-base hits and 11 RBIs in his last 10 games. The Alabama native bumped his average up to .294, which is his highest mark since the first week of the season.

Hartford starter Antonio Senzatela (2-1) allowed two runs on five hits without a walk while striking out four in 5 2/3 innings. Righty Shane Broyles gave up a run on a hit and two walks in 1 1/3/ frames and righty Rayan Gonzalez allowed just a single in the eighth. Righty Matt Carasiti worked around a walk in the final inning for his Eastern League-leading 15th save.

Boston righty Mike McCarthy (0-2) yielded four runs on eight hits without a free pass and three strikeouts in five frames for Portland.
