June 1, 2016

The International League today announced that they have named Buffalo Bisons LHP WADE LeBLANC the IL's 'Player of the Month' for May.

Wade LeBlanc went undefeated in six May starts, leading the International League with a 0.70 ERA for the month and finishing among the top four in innings pitched (38.1) and strikeouts (36). After surrendering three runs to Scranton/Wilkes‐Barre in a no‐decision on May 2, LeBlanc proceeded to reel off a string of 33.0 innings without allowing an earned run. The streak remained intact after he tossed 6.1 frames of shutout baseball in Saturday's 3‐0 win at Toledo, his final outing of the month.

For the season, LeBlanc is the IL leader with 62.2 innings pitched and five victories, and he's also near the top of the circuit in ERA (1.29 -3rd) and strikeouts (58 -5th). He is the first Bisons pitcher honored as IL Player of the Month since Jeremy Sowers in May 2006.

LeBlanc is among the players fans can currently vote for online to send to the 2016 Triple‐A All‐Star Game by visiting milb.com/vote.
