Trio of Homers Sends Isotopes to Victory

June 5, 2016

Three solo home runs, a three-run ninth, and a strong outing from Jordan Lyles guided the Isotopes to a 6-2 victory over the Sacramento River Cats on Sunday afternoon.

Albuquerque got on the board in the top of the second inning when outfielder Noel Cuevas connected on his first home run of the season. Cather Ryan Casteel added a solo shot in the seventh, his third on the year. Outfielder Stephen Cardullo would also get in on the home run action, launching his team-leading eighth long ball of the year in the eighth inning.

The Isotopes would go on to plate three runs in the ninth thanks to an error and wild pitch from Sacramento, to go along with a Ben Paulsen sacrifice fly.

Isotopes starter Jordan Lyles was dominant on the hill, tossing 7.0 innings of one-run ball. The right-hander allowed just four hits on the afternoon.

Scott Oberg closed things down for Albuquerque, recording a two-inning save.

The Isotopes and River Cats are back in action tomorrow evening, with left-hander Harrison Musgrave (2-1, 4.00) taking the hill for Glenallen Hill's squad. The River Cats will counter with fellow lefty Ty Blach (5-3, 4.00). First pitch from Raley Field is set for 8:05 p.m.
