Ems Sign Children's Miracle Network Champion, Hayden Kumle

June 6, 2016

The Eugene Emeralds are excited to announce their first signed player for the 2016 season. Emeralds General Manager, Allan Benavides, was proud to offer seven-year old Hayden Kumle a one-year deal as the Emeralds Honorary Player this summer. He will be suiting up with the team for the home opener on June 17 as the Emeralds face off against the Boise Hawks.

Hayden is the Miracle Child selected to represent the state of Oregon as the Children's Miracle Network Champion/Ambassador, and an avid baseball fan. He was born with an unforeseen birth defects which includes heart disease and a rare bowel disorder. In the first year of his life, Hayden had five surgeries and over fifty doctors' visits. However, his love for life, and baseball, is what attracted the Emeralds to their newest player.

"After everything he, and his family have been through, we just want to give him a once-in-a-life time opportunity," said Benavides. "His positive outlook and love of the game are sure to be a hit in the clubhouse."

As the honorary player for the Emeralds, Hayden will be a much welcomed addition to the team at PK Park throughout the summer. He will receive his own locker in the clubhouse and will be able to stretch alongside the guys before each game. His first time suiting up with the team will be for the Emeralds Media Day on June 15. The Emeralds are very excited to welcome Hayden to the Emeralds family, and would like to thank the Children's Miracle Network at Sacred Heart Medical Center - RiverBend for introducing them to Hayden and his amazing family.
