CORPUS CHRISTI -- After earning Player of the Week honors consecutively, Hooks third baseman J.D. Davis has been named Texas League Player of the Month for May, according to president Tom Kayser.

The Cal State Fullerton product and No. 14 prospect in the Astros' system according to Baseball America, Davis is batting .249 overall. He recorded 33 hits during 26 May games, topping the league with 18 extra-base hits. Davis also recorded 68 total bases, 10 more than his closest competitor.

The third baseman tallied 25 RBIs during the first full month of the year, driving in almost 20 percent of the team's runs. Davis hit nine of his team-leading 13 doubles in May. He also homered nine times, including a three home-run performance May 19 at San Antonio during the franchise-record 11-game win streak.

Davis and the Hooks return home to Whataburger Field Tuesday, June 7, for four-game series with the Midland RockHounds and San Antonio Missions before embarking on a 13-game road trip prior to the All-Star Break.
