Smokies to Hold Annual Pink Ribbon Night

Event on Friday, June 10 will feature pink-themed jerseys that will be up for auction
June 6, 2016

SEVIERVILLE - The Tennessee Smokies are set to hold their annual Susan G. Komen of Knoxville Pink Ribbon Night presented by Tennova Healthcare on Friday, June 10. As a part of the promotion, the Smokies will be auctioning off the game-worn jerseys from that evening's contest against the Chattanooga Lookouts. The proceeds of the auction will benefit Susan G. Komen of Knoxville.

The pink-themed uniforms will feature the Smokies wordmark across the chest in pink lettering with the Susan G. Komen logo draped around it. The pink-hued logo will also include photos of several breast cancer survivors. The jersey also features a pink collar and sleeves with the Komen Knoxville logo on the back of the white uniform and on the right sleeve.

"Tennova Healthcare is pleased to partner with the Tennessee Smokies and Komen Knoxville to raise awareness about breast cancer, and to encourage women to get yearly mammograms starting at the age of 40," said Neil Heatherly, Chief Executive Officer of Physicians Regional Medical Center and Tennova Healthcare's East Tennessee Market Leader. "One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, but thanks to early detection and treatment advances, women are surviving breast cancer and living longer, healthier lives."

"Komen Knoxville supports 16 counties in East Tennessee with free screening and diagnostic services and patient assistance," said Amy Dunaway, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen of Knoxville. "Our work is ever-growing as we encounter patients who are uninsured, underinsured, unemployed and facing the financial hardships that this disease involves. Through our community partnerships with organizations like the Tennessee Smokies and Tennova Healthcare as well as our signature event, Race for the Cure®, we have been able to grant out over $7.0 million to local area breast health organizations since 1998."

Like all Friday night contests at Smokies Stadium, following the final out there will be a stellar fireworks display presented by Pepsi, Coors Light, WIVK, WVLT and the Knoxville News Sentinel. It will also be Mother-Son Date Night at the ballpark. Gates will open that night at 6:00 p.m. and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Single-game tickets, as well as multi-voucher and season ticket packages are still available, and can be purchased online at smokiesbaseball.com, or by calling the Smokies Ticket Office at 865-286-2300.
