KEYS EXPLODE FOR 14 RUNS AGAINST DASH

OF Trent Mummey Goes 4-for-6 with 5 RBI in Carolina League Debut

After 13 consecutive home games, the Keys bats enjoyed the change of scenery. Frederick scored 14 runs on 15 hits as they defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 14-7. In his Carolina League debut, LF Trent Mummey went 4-for-6 with a double, triple, and five runs batted in. RF Jacob Julius had four RBI including three on his first home run of the season. With the win, the Keys improved to 7-9 while the Dash fell to 7-10.

Facing RHP Terry Doyle, Frederick got off to a quick start. CF Kyle Hudson reached on a bunt single and Trent Mummey followed with a double down the left field line. 2B LJ Hoes, 1B Tyler Townsend, RF Jacob Julius, and 3B Dale Mollenhauer each drove in a run as the Keys gave RHP Jacob Rasner a four-run cushion before he ever hit the hill. Rasner got off to a great start in his return to Winston-Salem. Rasner allowed two hits and no runs to score through his first four innings.

Mummey added to the lead with a RBI single in the second and Julius blasted a three-run shot in the fifth to make the Frederick advantage eight.

The Keys ran into trouble in the home-half of the fifth. The Dash scored seven runs in the inning including a two-run homer by 3B Austin Yount and a three-run shot by DH Andy Wilkens. Rasner was relieved after 4.2 innings of work. He allowed six runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking one.

Frederick overcame the rally and added to their lead with runs in the seven, eighth, and ninth. Mummey added three more RBI to his night in the top of the eighth inning. He belted a three-run triple to centerfield off RHP Ryan Kussmaul.

LHP Will Startup improved to 2-0 out of the bullpen after he allowed one run on two hits over 3.1 innings pitched. RHP Justin Moore threw a scoreless ninth inning in the win.

The Keys and Dash will play game two of the four-game series on Tuesday night. LHP Nathan Moreau (2-0, 3.60) will get the start for Frederick while RHP Andre Rienzo (0-0, 2.57) gets the ball for Winston-Salem. First pitch from BB&T Ballpark is set for 7:00 p.m.
