Spingola Promoted, Caro Joins Cubs
BOWLING GREEN, KY - Daniel Spingola has been promoted to Advanced-A Myrtle Beach while Roberto Caro joins the South Bend Cubs.
Spingola in 38 games with South Bend hit .309 with a .377 on base percentage. The 23-year old outfielder had a 14 game hitting streak from April 15 through May 2.
Spingola was a 2015 Chicago Cubs 31st round pick out of Georgia Tech.
Caro comes to South Bend from the Chicago Cubs Extended Spring Training in Mesa.
Last year Caro in 31 games for the Cubs Rookie League Team batted .255 with a .351 on base percentage while driving in nine runs and stealing eight bases. From July 10 through July 19, Caro appeared in five games for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs going 0-for-5 at the plate.
The 22-year old from the Domincian Republic signed with the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent in 2011.
Caro joins Eloy Jimenez, Donnie Dewees and Eddy Martinez as outfielders on the South Bend Cubs roster.
The South Bend Cubs begin a six-game road trip at Bowling Green tonight at 7:35pm(ET).
