Twins recall Ryan from Rochester

Move comes after Hunter goes on disabled list
July 30, 2005
BOSTON -- One week after he was sent back to Triple-A Rochester in a numbers crunch, Ryan was recalled Saturday to take Torii Hunter's place on the roster.

Ryan found out when he was lifted for a pinch-hitter during the Red Wings' International League game Friday night.

"I was wondering what was going on," Ryan said. "I wanted to come back so bad, but not under these circumstances."

Normally, demoted players must wait at least 10 days to return to the big leagues, unless there's an injury. Ryan batted .268 with one home run and six RBIs in 26 games during his previous callup. He was hitting .283 with six homers and 26 RBIs in 46 games in Rochester.
