66ers Win Streak Goes to Three

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers (12-10) jettisoned the Lancaster JetHawks by a final score of 4-2 in game one of a seven game homestand. It's the third straight victory for a 66ers team that was welcomed home after a winning road trip with 4,016 in the stands at Arrowhead Credit Union, the largest crowd of the season.

Manuel Flores took the mound for the 66ers pitching six strong innings. Flores returned to the Inland Empire after making a spot start for the Angels triple-A affiliate the Salt Lake Bees. Lancaster led the game 2-0 after their half of the third inning, but flores bounced back finishing the night with six strikeout and just those two earned runs. Reliever Mike Piazza pitched two scoreless innings followed by Jose Perez shutting the door in the ninth earning his third save of the season.

With the 66ers down 2-0 going into the bottom of the third inning Inland Empire tied things up with back-to-back RBI hits by Rian Kiniry and Matt Long. Inland Empire took the lead for good with a mammoth two run homerun to center field off the bat of Kole Calhoun. Center fielder Matt Long had a terrific day at the plate going three-for-four with an RBI and a run scored. Long was also ran wild on the base paths with three stolen bases. The 66ers stole six bases total in the game matching the Cal League high for a team this season.

The 66ers will be back in action Saturday night at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in game two of their three game series with the Lancaster JetHawks Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. Inland Empire will have their first four game winning streak of the season with a victory.
