#ASGWorthy: Josh Bell

Bell is among the IL's top hitters this season
June 16, 2016

For Indians first baseman Josh Bell, All-Star Games are an experience best shared with others.

"I've never not had a good time at an All-Star game," said Bell. "I've always had a blast. Especially last year because we had five guys go from our team. It was an unbelievable experience. It's always fun when you go with guys you play with, and it makes it that much more special.

Apart from Bell, Double-A Altoona sent Max Moroff, Dan Gamache, Adam Frazier, and Jason Creasy to the Eastern League All-Star Game in 2015. All but Creasy are now together in Indianapolis.

Bell himself has been selected as an All-Star at the Single-A, High-A, and Double-A levels. No matter where he's been, the Pirates' No. 3 prospect has appreciated the moment.

"It's always a fun time. It's an honor to get invited to an All-Star game in any league. It's something you strive for and look forward to. It's always cool playing with the guys you're used to facing. Daniel Norris was a part of the All-Star Game two years ago, then seeing him make it to the big leagues that same year was really cool."

Bell is fourth in the league in hitting (.316), third in RBIs (41), and sixth in home runs (9) - making a bid at an International League Triple Crown a definite possibility this season. To get there he'll need to go through some of baseball's best young players, many of whom will be getting the nod to Charlotte.

"You see guys and think, 'This guy is really close,' especially at this level. The majority of guys making the All-Star team here probably have a good chance of making it to the big leagues as well."
