Tristan Archer added to All-Star Roster

Archer joins Cooper, Nottingham, Peterson and Phillips on South squad

BILOXI, MS. - Biloxi Shuckers RHP Tristan Archer has been added to the 2016 Southern League South Division roster. Archer joins four other Biloxi players who were originally selected in 1B Garrett Cooper, C Jacob Nottingham, LHP Stephen Peterson and OF Brett Phillips. LHP Josh Hader and OF Kyle Wren were selected but promoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Archer replaces Jacksonville reliever Tyler Bremer who was promoted to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday.

Archer, 25, is set to make his first start of 2016 tonight in game three of the five-game series at Jacksonville. Archer is 2-2 this season with a 4.58 ERA (20er, 39.1ip), and carries a 36/4, strikeout/walk ratio. Archer has four holds and one save.

The Kingsport, TN native carries a career 14-13 record and a 3.55 ERA over 94 games, 18 starts in four professional seasons. Archer was the Milwaukee Brewers' 21st round selection in 2013 out of Tennessee Tech. This will be Archer's first All-Star Game appearance at any level of the minors.

The Mississippi Braves host Trustmark's 2016 Southern League All-Star Game Tuesday, June 21 at Trustmark Park. Biloxi will look to get back in the win column in game three of the five-game series on Friday night at Bragan Field. Biloxi trails Pensacola by a half-game in the South Division standings with three games left in the first half. The newly named Archer takes the mound for the Shuckers, while RHP Hunter Adkins (0-1, 6.75) will start for Jacksonville. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. on the Biloxi Shuckers' Radio Network's flagship station WGCM 1240 AM, 100.9 FM, Pascagoula's WPMO 1580 AM and the TuneIn Radio app.

The Shuckers will open the second half at MGM Park, June 23-27 at MGM Park. The homestand features Double Play Thursday and Parrot Head Night on Thursday, June 23rd, Mr. Intermission Performance on Friday, June 24th, Post-Game Fireworks on Saturday, June 25th and McDonald's Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 26th.
