Rosters set for All-Star game

June 19, 2016

The South Atlantic League All-Star rosters have been revised, due to promotions and injuries, and the league announced the current rosters Friday, June 17.

The release below is from the South Atlantic League office and contains the updated roster for the South Atlantic League All-Star teams.   The game will be played Tuesday night, June 21 at 7:05 p.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Among the injured players is Chase Vallot of the Lexington Legends, who had been selected as the starting catcher for the Southern Division, but will be unable to play. He was hit in the face by a pitch in the Legends June 14 game against West Virginia, and has been placed on the disabled list.

One more change has been made since the updated roster was released: David Thompson of Columbia, who was to be the starting third baseman for the Southern Division, was injured in Columbia's game Thursday night and will not play. He will be replaced by Mitchell Gunsolus of Greenville.

Other changes to the rosters are covered in the release below.

The batting practice/autograph sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, June 21 beginning at 2:45 p.m.

2:30 p.m. - Gates open (fans must have an All-Star game ticket for admission).

2:45 - 3:15 p.m. The Northern Division team will sign autographs for fans.

2:45 - 3:30 p.m.   The Southern Division team will take batting practice.

3:45 - 4:15 p.m. The Southern Division team will sign autographs.

3:45 - 4:30 p.m. The Northern Division team will take batting practice.

The "Legendary Derby," a variation of home run derby, is scheduled for 4:45 to 6 p.m. and will involve All-Star players and celebrities, who will be paired with each other in teams as they complete to win on behalf of a charitable organization.

Following the game, fans can remain in their seats for Mega Blast, the biggest fireworks show in the ballpark's history.
